Redskins GM: Davis is explosive, ‘genetic freak’

After spending the first nine full seasons of his career with the 49ers, Vernon Davis is onto his third team since last fall. In November, the 49ers traded him to the Broncos, where he flopped, even though he grabbed a championship ring in the process. After the season, the Broncos showed zero interest in retaining Davis, so he marched on over to the Redskins.
At the age of 32, Davis seems to be on the final days of his career. His play on the field backs up that belief. In 2015, Davis caught 38 passes for less than 400 yards.
But according to Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan, who drafted Davis when he was a member of the 49ers’ front office, Davis can still offer something. As McCloughan put it, Davis is still a “genetic freak.”
