Strained hamstring lands A-Rod on disabled list

BALTIMORE — Alex Rodriguez had a date with an MRI tube on Wednesday morning, and it determined that the Yankees designated hitter needed to go on the 15-day disabled list after injuring his right hamstring in Tuesday’s 4-1 loss to the Orioles.
The diagnosis was a strained hamstring. Left-hander James Pazos was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Rodriguez appeared to move gingerly as he jogged down the baseline on a ground ball to shortstop Manny Machado in the fifth. Dustin Ackley pinch-hit for Rodriguez when his spot in the batting order came around again in the eighth inning.
“I feel sore,” Rodriguez said. “Hopefully the good news is that I wasn’t running very fast. We’ll see what happens.”
