Is Serena Williams the opponent to beat in Paris?

Serena Williams’ 2016 has been disappointing so far. The American, who until last September seemed unassailable now seems to have some cracks in her game and form. The watershed moment was the semi-final she lost at Flushing Meadows to Roberta Vinci last year and since then, there have been more disappointments than joy for Williams.
She lost finals in Melbourne and Indian Wells this season, respectively against Angelique Kerber and Victoria Azarenka (who, at the moment seem to be the two players in better shape), and is yet to win a title so far.
