Perez may face surgery for fractured thumb
- Updated: May 3, 2016
CLEVELAND — With his right thumb wrapped in a black brace on Tuesday, Indians catcher Roberto Perez stood at his locker, unsure how much time he is going to be sidelined. Right now, there is only one positive when it comes to his hand injury.
“I’m glad I got the out,” Perez said with a smile.
During Saturday’s 4-3 loss to the Phillies, Perez made a great diving tag on Odubel Herrera at home plate for a highlight-reel out in the fifth inning. Surgery has not been ruled out at this point for Perez, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Sunday.
