Hardy lands on DL with fractured foot

BALTIMORE — Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy was placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Monday, after a CT scan revealed a small fracture in his left foot.

The initial timetable for Hardy is six to eight weeks. He left Sunday’s game after five innings after fouling a ball off his foot. Though the early diagnosis was a contusion, manager Buck Showalter said after the game that the club had wanted to check into a few things it saw on Hardy’s initial X-ray.
