Lucie Safarova Withdraws from Madrid Open!

World no. 13 Lucie Safarova, who won the Prague Open, last week, withdrew from the Mutua Madrid Open ahead of her first round match against Samantha Stosur. The match would have been a repeat of the duo’s face-off in the Prague Open final this past Sunday.
The cause for the Czech pulling out of the event is said to be food poisoning. In addition to singles, Safarova has also pulled out of doubles, where she and partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands were the second seeds.
