Cuba still won’t allow defectors to play in WBC

Cuba decided to maintain its ban on baseball players that defected the country and will not allow them to represent Cuba during the 2017 World Baseball Classic.
Despite some encouraging sounds and the recent reopening of the borders to the United States, Cuba is not yet ready to forgive those who previously left for the MLB.
Cuban players like Alexei Ramirez, Jose Abreu, Yoenis Cespedes, Aroldis Chapman and Yasiel Puig, who all defected to play in the United States, will still not be allowed to represent their home nation at the WBC. Brace Hemmelgarn/Minnesota Twins/Getty …
