Rafael Nadal: ‘I believe my rivals are clean. Facing Djokovic? I just follow my path’

Four-time former Madrid champion Rafael Nadal will return this year to the tournament after having won two back-to-back titles in Monte Carlo and Barcelona. He’s also beaten top players like Murray, Wawrinka and Nishikori this year, though Novak Djokovic remains his toughest challenge.
When asked about how important a victory against Novak Djokovic would be, he has a clear answer, ‘You’ve asked me a lot of times about Djokovic and I think that you think wrong because you don’t see that Djokovic is the best player in the world and he has shown that week after week. I repeat it. I said it before. In 2011, my problem was Djokovic. In 2015 my problem was not Djokovic. That’s the reality. I’m the fifth in the world and I hadn’t been competing in important matches in 2015. These last weeks I’ve been doing it. Today I just follow my path and I think that Djokovic follows his.
