Tough Day in Talladega for Earnhardt

Dale Earnhardt Jr. had his second consecutive early exit in a restrictor-plate race this season following two incidents in Sunday’s GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.
After dominating restrictor-plate tracks last season with chassis No. 872, known as “Amelia,” things have not gone well for Earnhardt Jr. and the car in points paying races this year. In a similar incident that relegated him to a 36th-place finish in the season opening Daytona 500, Earnhardt was forced to the garage on lap 50 at Talladega with heavy damage to his No. 88 Chevrolet.
