Nicolas Almagro has finally ended his drought without ATP title that was stretching for almost 4 years, beating Pablo Carreno Busta in Estoril final for his 13th ATP crown. More experienced player outlasted his fellow countryman by 6-7 7-6 6-3 in 2 hours and 46 minutes of grueling battle, with Carreno Busta being 3 points away from his maiden ATP crown in the second set tie break. Almagro was the better player on the court, firing 12 aces and creating no less than 19 break points. Carreno Busta, competing in his second final of 2016, did his best to fend off most of those, fighting fearlessly until the last point. Almagro had the best possible start of the match, losing only 2 points in his first 3 service games and breaking Carreno Busta in game 5, building a 4-2 lead. The younger of the two was in all kind of troubles, facing 0-40 when he served next time, but managed to take the 5 points in a row for the crucial hold.
