Egypt’s Ahly win eighth African club championship crown

Tunis, Tunisia, April 30, 2016 – Ahly of Egypt achieved double feats as they defended their title and recorded their eighth title victory in the 2016 African Women’s Club Championship, following their 3-2 (25-20, 22-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-13) triumph in the final over Carthage of Tunisia at the Sidi Bousaid on Saturday.
Ahly broke the record they held with arch rivals Kenya Pipeline of seven titles apiece and raised their medal tally to 19 with eight gold, seven silver and four bronze medals.
The Tunisian club champions, which have eight national team players, achieved their best ever finish in their history with a silver medal, a place higher than their previous podium finish of third place in 2015.
