Pardew rues saved penalty

Alan Pardew was left to rue Yohan Cabaye’s saved penalty after Crystal Palace suffered a 1-0 defeat by Newcastle on Saturday.
The Palace midfielder had the chance to cancel out Andros Towsend’s opening goal, but was denied by Karl Darlow’s sprawling stop.
Cabaye had scored his previous four penalties in the Premier League, and Pardew felt the “game died” for his side after they failed from the spot.
“We got a penalty and that’s where the game died for us. It would have made it a very interesting end if we had scored,” Pardew said.
“We don’t miss penalties, and it was an unusual one. He didn’t hit it as he would have liked and it gave the goalkeeper a chance. We are pretty efficient …
