NEW YORK — Yoenis Cespedes and the New York Mets each set franchise records in an explosive third inning Friday against the San Francisco Giants.

The Mets produced 12 runs in the third — a franchise record for a frame, surpassing an 11-run sixth inning against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on July 16, 2006.
