Nike won’t sponsor Rory, Ireland at Olympics

Rory McIlroy will represent Ireland in the 2016 Rio Olympics, but you won’t see any of Nike’s signature swooshes on his apparel.
Ireland’s Olympic team is sponsored by New Balance, which means, despite having a lucrative Nike contract, McIlroy won’t be wearing any Nike gear, though he’ll still obviously be playing with Nike clubs and balls.
This wasn’t a situation where Nike never had a chance to ensure McIlroy — who makes nearly $20 million a year from his sponsorship with the company — would wear the company’s gear at the Olympics. According to …
