MRI confirms mild ankle sprain for Bryant

CHICAGO — An MRI confirmed Kris Bryant has a mild right ankle sprain, and he was not in Friday’s lineup. However, manager Joe Maddon did send Bryant to the on-deck circle in the seventh inning of the Cubs’ 6-1 win over the Braves before a double play ended the frame.
Bryant had to leave Thursday’s 7-2 win over the Brewers after four innings when he rolled his ankle while running the bases. He was set to receive treatment during the Cubs’ game on Friday against the Braves.
