Elway explains why Kap, Bradford trades fizzled

The longest-running plot — and most intriguing one as well — to the NFL offseason came to a screeching halt on Thursday night when the Denver Broncos traded up to grab Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
The move puts an end to any speculation about the possibility of a trade for either Colin Kaepernick or Sam Bradford. The 49ers and Eagles either want too much in exchange or require too much money given to the quarterback in question to make it work.
And now the Broncos have the leverage along with no need.
Speaking with Peter King of TheMMQB.com after the first round ended, Elway broke down how the team got to where they are with the quarterback situation and said they’re “thrilled” to land Lynch.
