Bills’ pick Lawson: Won’t need shoulder surgery

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Defensive end Shaq Lawson, who was drafted 19th overall by the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night, insists that he won’t need surgery on his right shoulder, despite a report saying six teams believe otherwise.
Sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter on Thursday night that Lawson, the former Clemson standout, will require surgery, likely after the upcoming season, that will sideline him four to six months. Lawson, however, said on a conference call later Thursday night that the injury occurred as a freshman in 2013 and that there was “no truth” to the report.
