Thirty-one picks down, a whole lot more to go.

Round 1 of the 2016 NFL draft was not short on shock factor and intrigue.

The Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles kept everything normal with Jared Goff and Carson Wentz going with the top two picks, respectively. But all of a sudden, Joey Bosa was a San Diego Charger and Ezekiel Elliott was a Dallas Cowboy.

The Ohio State Buckeyes brought the drama to the NFL draft.

Now it’s time to focus on the next two rounds, and there are some high-profiled names available. Let’s take a look into the future.

Alabama Players Will Go Early in Round 2

This is the stat that will blow your mind.

The Alabama Crimson Tide had five prospects in CBS Sports’ big board ranked in the top 25. Only one Alabama player went in the first round. Ryan Kelly is the new center of the Indianapolis Colts.

This went under the radar. Compare that to Ohio State, which had five guys go in the first round and all in the first 20 picks.

Alabama will rule Round 2, starting on the defensive side. Expect defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson to come off the board at No. 33 to the Tennessee Titans. After getting their new offensive tackle Jack Conklin, the Titans can grab one of the more underrated defensive tackles in the draft. He’s only 21 years old and is a great run-stopper. With time he can develop into a dominant pass-rusher at his size (6’4″, 307 pounds).

At Nos. 37 and 38 with the Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars, two more Alabama guys will come off the board. Jarran Reed, the other Tide defensive tackle, will go to Kansas City and be a good backup to Dontari Poe. At 307 pounds, he’s another terrific run-stopper. There’s a chance the Chiefs can move him over to defensive end in that 3-4 scheme, so Kansas City will have all the mass at their disposal.

And after taking Jalen Ramsey with the fifth pick, the Jaguars can address defense with the addition of Reggie Ragland, the Alabama linebacker who might be the best tackler in this draft. Jacksonville continues to build its defense, and adding a guy like Ragland with his quickness and IQ is a necessity for the Jaguars.

To round it out, reigning Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry should go early in Round 2 as well, to the New York Giants. The Cowboys’ drafting Elliott took the Giants away from a first-round running back. Whether they really wanted one or not will never be revealed, but they need help in the backfield.
