Lock, Nunez Named All-ACC

Tallahassee, Fla. – After a stellar senior season that saw him rise to the Top 10 in the country, senior Benjamin Lock was named First Team All-ACC Thursday by the league’s coaches, while teammate Marco Nunez earned Second Team honors. Lock, with 15 wins on the season against ranked opponents, was the league’s second-highest vote-getter.
“I’m proud of the guys for being named to the All-ACC team,” head coach Dwayne Hultquist said. “Ben certainly had one of the best year’s in the conference and in the country, and he’s one of the few players in the Top 15 in both singles and doubles. Marco had his best year individually. He worked his way into the rankings, and with Ben, had a great spring in doubles. I’m glad to see that they’re in position to make the NCAA Tournament.” Lock, from Harare, Zimbabwe, was a two-time ACC Player of the Week and played his way into the ITA Top 10 with a 24-12 singles record, including an 8-3 mark in the ACC in leading the 21st-ranked Seminoles to a three-seed in last week’s ACC Tournament. He was the first Seminole named ACC Player of the Week twice in one season since 2008, and enters next month’s NCAA Tournament in the top six in school history in both singles and doubles wins.
