Connor Cook: Round-by-Round Updates, Twitter Reaction in 2016 NFL Draft

There were few more polarizing quarterback prospects in this class than Connor Cook. Some evaluators viewed the Michigan State product as an NFL prototype, an under-center throwback who can work in any offense. Others viewed his senior season as a cataclysmic disappointment, pointing to his poor accuracy and middling counting stats.

It appears the latter side won.

Cook fell through the cracks in Thursday’s first round, as contemporaries Jared Goff, Carson Wentz and Paxton Lynch went off the board. The Michigan State product is still likely to go somewhere in Round 2, though evaluators around the league remain skeptical of his personality.

“There’s just something put-offish about him,” an offensive coordinator told Tom Pelissero of USA Today. “It appears to me—I could be dead wrong—but he’d be a guy that, when he got in the locker room, they’d try to eat him up and spit him out.”
