Barrett returns as D-backs again shuffle ‘pen

PHOENIX — When right-hander Jake Barrett was optioned to Triple-A Reno following the D-backs’ 14-inning game in San Diego just over 10 days ago, it was not so much a matter of performance, but rather a matter of needing a fresh arm.
Barrett’s stay in Triple-A was not long, as he was recalled Thursday when the team optioned Dominic Leone to Reno.
Barrett had a 3.86 ERA in six games for the D-backs before his demotion, and he threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings in Reno.
