Bizarre outing for Tigers pitcher Anibal Sanchez

DETROIT — How about this for a bizarre final pitching line: Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez exited Thursday’s 7-3 win over the Oakland Athletics in the sixth inning having given up three hits, two runs and seven walks and recording nine strikeouts.
If those last two figures seem incongruent, it’s because they are.
According to ESPN Stats and Info, Sanchez has never before in his career surrendered more than four walks during a game in which he recorded nine or more strikeouts.
What to make of this befuddling performance?
