Edgar: ‘There’s going to be a 2 division champ, and his name isn’t Conor McGregor’

For years, Frankie Edgar has been touted as a potential two-division champion. ‘The Answer’, who captured the UFC lightweight title in 2010, has spent the bulk of his career fighting bigger men.
It’s a trait that has defined Edgar as one of the most fierce competitors in the sport and earned his reputation as a fan favorite. When the New Jersey-based fighter lost the 155-pound belt to Benson Henderson – who has had multiple fights at welterweight – Edgar made the drop to featherweight to take on then-champion Jose Aldo.
The 5’6″ fighter fell short against ‘Scarface’, losing out on the chance to join Randy Couture and B.J. Penn as one of the greats to find championship success in two weight classes. Since then, however, Edgar has earned enough ammunition for a rematch with Aldo – this time for the interim 145-pound title.
