Jon Jones’ mother lost leg to diabetes prior to UFC 197

While much of the focus has been on Jon Jones’ anti-climactic return to the Octagon against Ovince Saint Preux at UFC 197, the pound-for-pound #1 wanted to explain some of the personal obstacles he faced heading into the bout.
Jones’ legal troubles are well documented – the Albuquerque-based fighter pleaded guilty to hit-and-run last year and recently served jail time for an alleged drag race. What’s been largely hidden from the public eye, however, is his mother’s battle with diabetes.
Camille Jones has lost most of her vision to the disease and recently had her leg amputated.
