Winning at Talladega Superspeedway remains one of the biggest challenges in NASCAR.
The mammoth 2.66-mile superspeedway has long been a place with a reputation for speed, anxiety and unpredictability. Sprint Cup Series drivers will get their next shot to tackle the Alabama speed plant in Sunday’s GEICO 500.
Carl Edwards goes into the weekend riding a wave of two straight wins, at Bristol and Richmond International Raceway, but knows succeeding at Talladega is a completely different situation.
“We don’t have a win there, but I’m on one of the best runs of my career,” Edwards said. “Three wins in a row would be a blast. We ran well as a group in Daytona and worked great as a team. Hopefully, we can do that again and have similar results.”
