Bulgaria announces national beach volleyball club league

Sofia, Bulgaria, April 27, 2016 – An innovative format for a brand new National Club League in beach volleyball has been announced and presented in Bulgaria. Following a recent global trend to introduce more team competitions in beach volleyball, a unique home-and-away national women’s championship for clubs will get underway this summer in the southern European country.The National Club League has been designed to attract spectators to the beach volleyball courts and develop interest from the media and potential sponsors. The league will also serve to motivate clubs to develop participation in the sport, in the same way as for indoor volleyball.Each club team will comprise of two duos plus subs. Each club-versus-club tie will consist of four standard beach volleyball matches, with each pair playing each of the opponent’s pairs once. The club teams will face each other twice on a home-and-away basis. Each tie will earn a club team 0 to 4 points towards the general standings in the league depending on the number of victories won.With four clubs participating in this year’s pilot edition and without any playoffs planned, it will take a six-leg regular season to determine the beach volleyball club champion of Bulgaria.
