Tigers’ Victor Martinez looking like 2014 V-Mart

DETROIT — Asked before the game if this was the healthiest, the strongest Victor Martinez had ever looked, Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus answered without hesitation:
“Since 2014. No question”
Ausmus admitted there were times last season that Martinez looked like he was rounding into form. But, inevitably, there would always be some setback. He’d jump out of the way of a pitch down and in, or run down the line and then look bothered afterwards as a result. In retrospect, the Tigers should have been more cautious about playing him when they did.
