Neil Walker claims a piece of Mets’ April HR record in win

NEW YORK — John Buck once hit nine April home runs for the New York Mets, so it’s not always a sign of great things to come. It should prove to be a little more significant for Neil Walker, who tied the Mets record set by Dave Kingman and previously equaled by Carlos Delgado and Buck when he homered in Wednesday’s 5-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds. The Mets’ April success as a team could prove more significant, too, even if some of it has come at the expense of awful opponents such as the Atlanta Braves and Reds.
