Second seed Grigor Dimitrov survived a fightback from qualifier Adrian Ungur to reach the quarter-finals of the 2016 TEB BNP Paribas Istanbul Open on Wednesday, winning 7-5, 4-6, 7-5.
Federico Delbonis, Jiri Vesely and Albert Ramos-Vinolas also progressed to the same stage with wins over Dudi Sela, Roberto Carballes Baena and Karen Khachanov, respectively, while Illya Marchenko reached the second round after beating Maximo Gonzalez in three sets.

An early break from Ungur gave him a surprise 3-1 lead over Dimitrov in the first set, but the status quo quickly resumed as the Bulgarian hit back and then held to restore parity at 3-3 before grabbing another crucial break at 5-5 to avoid the set going to a tiebreak, per Tennis TV:

Ungur came back strong in the second thanks in part to some excellent deliveries on his second serve—according to ATP World Tour, he won 67 percent of those points—and also to more ruthless returning as he won two break points to help claim the set.
