Lawyer: Manziel could avoid trial if he gets help

Johnny Manziel was indicted by a Dallas grand jury on Tuesday in the domestic assault case involving former girlfriend Colleen Crowley.
The Browns’ 2014 first-round pick is charged with one count of misdemeanor assault after allegedly striking Crowley, who said Manziel also shattered her ear drum, in a January incident.
“The Grand Jury’s review of Mr. Manziel’s case has resulted in a ‘true bill’, which means that there was probable cause found that Mr. Manziel committed a Family Violence Assault against the complainant,” District Attorney Susan Hawk said in statement. “Therefore, this case will move forward in the criminal justice system and be prosecuted by the District Attorney’s Office. As always, we respect the criminal justice process and the decision that the Dallas County Grand Jury has made in regards to this case.”
Robert Hinton, one of Manziel’s attorneys, told the Associated Press that both sides will meet with a judge to set bond, and Manziel will be booked. Hinton added that there had been no discussions to end the case before trial, that Manziel wants to “tackle this and get it over with,” and that Hinton hopes to get the cased dismissed.
