After he struggled in his last start for Triple-A Indianapolis, Pirates No. 1 prospect Tyler Glasnow returned to form Tuesday to fire six scoreless innings in a win against Durham.

Glasnow, No. 8 on the Top 100, was nothing short of dominant, allowing two hits and one walk while setting a Triple-A career-high with 11 strikeouts. He threw 56 of his season-high 87 pitches for strikes and, after logging exactly five innings in his first three turns, the six frames marked his longest of the season for the Indians.

“It felt good to reach that,” Glasnow told MiLB.com of his strikeout total. “I just went out like a normal start, really. That wasn’t the goal to strike out so many, really. But if you’re out there hitting your spots, trying to get ground balls, trying to get outs, that’s what happens.”

The 22-year-old righty has struck out 30 batters in 21 innings this season, giving him the highest K/9 rate (12.9) among Triple-A pitchers. Overall, Glasnow has posted a 2.57 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 30/7 K/BB ratio for the Indians. Opposing hitters are hitting a meager .203 against him.

Pirates Nos. 10 and 13 prospects Alen Hanson and Willy Garcia provided Glasnow with plenty of run support in the win, as both players delivered two-run home runs in the ninth inning as part of multi-hit performances at the plate.
