Hedges out 6-8 weeks with broken bone in hand

SAN FRANCISCO — Padres Minor League catcher Austin Hedges has a hamate fracture in his left hand that will require surgery, manager Andy Green said Tuesday.
It’s a tough break for Hedges, one of the best young players in the organization. He was batting .333/.385/.583 before injuring the hand while swinging.
