Greene ‘unlikely’ to start for Tigers on Friday

DETROIT — Though the Tigers haven’t made a roster move with Shane Greene, manager Brad Ausmus said it’s “unlikely” the right-hander will be able to make his next scheduled start Friday at Minnesota while he deals with a broken blister. Who would take his place also became a little clearer, even if the Tigers don’t have an answer yet.
The Tigers called up Buck Farmer on Tuesday, but Ausmus made it clear the right-hander is here to fill a relief spot and not to make a spot start. He takes the bullpen spot held by Jose Valdez on Monday and Matt Boyd on Sunday, as the Tigers keep cycling fresh arms in and out.
The Tigers recalled left-hander Daniel Norris from his Minor League rehab assignment on Tuesday, but immediately optioned him back to Triple-A Toledo, where he made his last two rehab starts, including six innings of one-run ball Monday night.
