Blue Jays hope Martin will return Wednesday

TORONTO — The Blue Jays hope to have catcher Russell Martin back in the lineup Wednesday night against the White Sox after he missed several games because of neck spasms.
Martin received another day off Tuesday night, but he was never expected to play with R.A. Dickey on the mound. Backup catcher Josh Thole got the start, as he typically does when the veteran knuckleballer is scheduled to pitch.
Toronto is still considering Martin day to day, but if he doesn’t play Wednesday then he should be ready to go Friday night at Tampa Bay, which follows a club off-day on Thursday. The …
