Bullets strike maiden victory, Wanderers drop points

The second week of the elite league in the South-east African nation of Malawi provided a lot of highs and lows over the weekend.
Defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets registered their first win of the season after seeing off spirited soldiers Red Lions 2-1 on Sunday, 24 April 2016 at the 10,000-seater Balaka Stadium in the Southern Region.
Muhammad Sulumba, who was criticised when Bullets drew 0-0 in the season opener after missing a penalty against Moyale Barracks, shut his critics up scoring the opener with a powerful shot. Burundian-import Niyikiza Aimable, headed in the second in between Loti Chawinga’s goal for the Lions as Bullets won the game 2-1.
Lions dropped to the lower half of the 16-club log table with three points, whereas Bullets jumped from ninth to fifth on the log table with four points from two games.
