Kemba Walker scored a postseason career-high 34 points, and Jeremy Lin scored 21 points off the bench as the Charlotte Hornets evened their series at two games apiece with the Miami Heat on Monday after an 89-85 win in Game 4 at Time Warner Cable Arena in North Carolina.
Charlotte only had three players score in double figures—Courtney Lee had 11 points—to make this series a best-of-three affair. Miami had four players score in double figures, led by Joe Johnson’s 16 points and Luol Deng’s 15 points. Goran Dragic and Dwyane Wade also scored 12 points, while the Heat shot 39.5 percent.

In Game 3 on Saturday, the Hornets used the third quarter to pull away from the Heat and finally leave their own mark on this series. This time, it would be Miami’s turn to make the most of the beginning of the second half.
The Hornets took a 48-39 lead into the locker room. It was a rough first half of shooting for the Hornets, who made 41.5 percent, but their defense contained Miami to 34.1 percent and 4-of-13 from three-point range. Even after the Heat took a 26-19 lead after one quarter, Charlotte responded by outscoring Miami 29-13 in the second.
Walker had 15 points after 24 minutes, but the former UConn star had a strong finish, per Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer:
