Brady’s new deal saves him millions during ban

Deflategate will not die. Perhaps Tom Brady suspected as much when he signed a two-year extension last month. Because in addition to keeping Brady in New England through 2019, the new deal also protects the quarterback in the event he was eventually suspended for his role in deflating footballs.
Brady’s extension included a $28 million signing bonus, $41 million in new money, and base salaries of $1 million in 2016, $1 million in 2017 and $14 million in 2018 and 2019.
