Turner expected to start during homestand
- Updated: April 24, 2016
DENVER — Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner missed his second start with a bruised left big toe on Sunday, but manager Dave Roberts expressed optimism about a return to the lineup for Monday’s homestand opener.
“We anticipate him being back in the lineup tomorrow,” Roberts said Sunday. “It’s better than it was.”
Turner came into Sunday’s game vs. the Rockies as a pinch-hitter in the eighth inning and drew a walk.
Turner suffered a freak injury Friday night while batting in the third inning. On a pitch in the dirt, Corey Seager strayed too far off first base, drawing a throw from Rockies catcher Tony Wolters.
