Share: Kasey Kahne finally snapped his opening season doldrums with his first top five of the year in Sunday’s Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway. The Hendrick Motorsports driver has struggled in the first part of the 2016 season while watching his three teammates – Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Chase Elliott – run competitively on nearly a weekly basis. That frustration ended Sunday at Richmond when Kahne ran near the front of the field most of the afternoon and knocked down a fourth-place performance. “It was really encouraging,” Kahne said. “The performance of the team all weekend long, you know, practice, we didn’t get all of our practice in, but we got a lot of it in, then qualifying, didn’t get that.
