Villarreal only managed a scoreless draw against Real Sociedad during Sunday’s Week 35 action, while Sevilla beat Real Betis, 2-0, in the Seville derby. The Yellow Submarine are still likely to finish in La Liga’s top four, although their advantage over Athletic Bilbao is now just six points.
Getafe and Levante both booked surprising 2-2 draws, against Valencia and Athletic Bilbao, respectively, to boost their chances of surviving the relegation battle. With three weeks left in the season, the bottom four teams are separated by just four points.

Villarreal opted to rest a couple of starters with an eye on the upcoming UEFA Europa League clash with Liverpool, and those who weren’t rested put together a bland and uninspired performance against La Real.
