Grizzlies put up early fight, can’t overcome sweeping Spurs

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Grizzlies for two quarters played like a team desperate to keep its season going. But if death and taxes are the only sure things in the real world, in the NBA you must add the San Antonio Spurs to that list.
The Spurs rolled to an 116-95 victory to polish off a four-game sweep of the short-handed Grizzlies after leading by just two at the half. It was the second straight game that the Grizzlies went toe-to-toe with the Spurs for awhile, but in the end, Memphis was again too short on weapons, experience, discipline and pretty much anything else a team needs to beat San Antonio.
The Grizzlies came out of the gate with a small lineup for the second straight game and attacked both ends of the floor all through the first half. Memphis scored 12 points off drives in the opening half, led by the slashing of reserve Lance Stephenson, who racked up 14 points by …
