Leonardo Ulloa did a fantastic job replacing the suspended Jamie Vardy on Sunday, scoring a brace to guide Leicester City to a 4-0 win over Swansea City, moving the club one step closer to the Premier League title.

Riyad Mahrez gave the hosts an early lead, and Ulloa doubled their advantage with a bullet header after 30 minutes. Swansea enjoyed plenty of possession but were unable to break down Leicester’s staunch defence, and when Ulloa added a second goal to his tally in the second half, the match was all but over. Marc Albrighton added to the scoreline late.

The win means Leicester now lead Tottenham Hotspur by eight points in the standings, but Spurs still have a match in hand.

As the club’s official Twitter account shared, Leicester counted on Shinji Okazaki and Ulloa to take care of the scoring, with Vardy missing the clash:

City: Schmeichel; Simpson, Huth, Morgan (c), Fuchs; Mahrez, Kanté, Drinkwater, Schlupp; Okazaki, Ulloa. #LeiSwa

Without the pace of Vardy to chase balls over the top, manager Claudio Ranieri opted to alter the tactical approach, using Ulloa as a target man and aiming less for the counter-attack. The visitors comfortably survived the first 10 minutes, but a blunder from Ashley Williams gifted the hosts the lead.

Williams played a poor pass straight into the feet of Mahrez, who gladly accepted the gift and fired the ball into the bottom corner. Per OptaJoe, the Algerian has come up huge for Leicester all season long:

28 – Riyad Mahrez has been involved in a joint-high 28 PL goals this season (17 goals, 11 assists), level with Jamie Vardy. Dreamers.

Per Simon Peach of the Press Association, the King Power Stadium responded to the lead with a new chant:

“Are you watching Tottenham?” the latest #LCFC chant. Great finish, massive mess by Williams
