MLS: Gerrard scores in win

Steven Gerrard missed an early penalty but got on the scoresheet late on as the LA Galaxy beat Real Salt Lake 5-2 to move up to third.
After Gerrard missed a sixth minute spot-kick, Juan Manuel Martinez put Real ahead early on but the Galaxy’s response was swift and decisive – with Gyasi Zardes, Mike Magee, Emmanuel Boateng and Giovani dos Santos making it 4-1 by half-time.
Javier Morales’ penalty cut the deficit before Gerrard struck in stoppage time.
Kei Kamara’s penalty was enough for the Columbus Crew to beat the ten-man Houston Dynamo 1-0, increasing the pressure on Owen Coyle. Dynamo goalkeeper Tyler Deric was sent off 18 minutes in when he fouled Justin Meram to concede the spot-kick.
