Wall: Wiz hired Brooks for a title, not KD

Berger: Brooks’ hiring nothing to do with KD
As soon as the Washington Wizards hired Scott Brooks to be their new head coach, there was speculation that the move was done in their pursuit of Kevin Durant this summer. With Durant set to become a free agent in the offseason, the Wizards have the necessary cap space, the hometown factor, the talented duo of John Wall and Bradley Beal and now Brooks that could help them land the Thunder All-Star.
Yet by all accounts, Durant is not interested in signing with the Wizards. Durant doesn’t want to deal with the everyday stress of playing in his hometown. Yet that doesn’t diminish the Wizards’ hiring of Brooks, who Wall says was hired to help the Wizards win a championship, not aid in their pursuit of Durant.
