Golovkin vs Wade preview: GGG, Chocolatito fights show boxing’s best and worst

This Saturday night, two separate combat sports see the absolute elite of their respective sports in action. At UFC 197, it’s MMA’s pound for pound #1 and #2 fighters in action with both Jon Jones and Demetrious Johnson in world title fights. At the same time, HBO World Championship Boxing features the #1 and #3 pound for pound boxers in the world in Roman Gonzalez and Gennady Golovkin. It should be an amazing night, with some of the finest fighters on the planet in action. And yet, on one half of the divide, something feels missing.
On the HBO Golovkin vs. Wade card, both GGG and Chocolatito are the favorites, naturally, but they are such wide favorites that the fights feel entirely superfluous, with both men sitting at insane -10,000 odds. As a point of comparison, Jones is -600, Johnson -450.
