2016 NFL Mock Draft: 1st-Round Projections and Latest Buzz on Top Prospects

The NFL draft is Thursday, and the shock factor hasn’t diminished yet for the new teams that possess the No. 1 and No. 2 picks.
Usually it’s best if the NFL doesn’t have chaos like this. The Tennessee Titans thought it was in the best interest of the franchise going forward to steal all of the Los Angeles Rams’ picks, while the Cleveland Browns are confident in passing up a quarterback with the No. 2 pick and letting the Philadelphia Eagles have their pick of Carson Wentz or Jared Goff.
Drama like this normally doesn’t happen a week before the draft, and it’s sure to cause a stir heading into Thursday. It’s almost a lock at this point that the Rams and Eagles will take the top two quarterbacks and let the rest of the dominoes fall as they may.
At this point, five days before the draft, nothing is certain. So let’s take a look at this updated mock draft and talk some of these prospects, including the top quarterbacks.
Jared Goff or Carson Wentz?
The Browns could’ve addressed their quarterback situation easily had they kept the No. 2 pick. Browns head coach Hue Jackson thinks the quarterback class goes deeper than Wentz and Goff.
“Everybody keeps talking about two of the best quarterbacks in the draft, no one knows that, right?” Jackson said, per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “We’ll see how it all unfolds here in two or three years and see if we were right or wrong. But I feel very good about where we are and what we’re doing.”
No doubt, the Browns came away with a huge haul in their deal with the Eagles, but the thought of them competing in the 2016-17 season was contingent on their quarterback play. The NFL world will have to wait and see what comes about it.
Nevertheless, consensus opinion among the CBS Sports mock draft committee is Goff and Wentz will go 1-2 next Thursday. The question is, who goes where?
