Report: Saints, Redskins finalists for Norman

After only two days, it looks like the Josh Norman free-agency tour is about to come to an end. According to ESPN.com, Norman has narrowed his decision down to two teams and will either sign with Washington or New Orleans in the coming days.
The Saints have made a late run at Norman, and the team is currently making a “strong push” to sign him. That push included a personal call from Saints head coach Sean Payton, according to NFL.com.
The big problem for the Saints though is that they currently only have $3.45 million in cap space available for the 2016 season, while the Redskins are $12.16 million under the salary cap, according to the latest numbers filed by the NFLPA.
Cap space is important because Norman is asking for a hefty sum of money. The former Panthers cornerback is believed to be asking for something in the range of $16 million per year. However, there’s always the chance that he’ll accept a slightly lower number per year if he gets the security of a long-term deal.
