Blazers’ McCollum wins Most Improved award

Portland Trail Blazers guard C.J. McCollum won the NBA’s Most Improved Player award Friday, finishing with a dominant 101 first-place votes to only seven for runner-up Kemba Walker. McCollum finished with 559 points to 166 for Walker, while Giannis Antetokounmpo finished third with four first-place votes and 99 total points. Stephen Curry finished fourth with seven first-place votes and 83 points.
McCollum was the odds-on favorite since preseason, given his expected increase in role with the departure of Wesley Matthews and Nicolas Batum, and his increased offensive playing time towards the end of last season. …
