ST. LOUIS — It turns out this Chicago Blackhawks team is every bit as hard to eliminate as their predecessors. Chicago withstood a furious comeback attempt by the St. Louis Blues and a barrage of shots in overtime to keep the series alive with a 4-3 double overtime win.
The Blackhawks are now 12-3 since 2010 in elimination games and now get to improve that record in Game 6 at home.
How it happened: Patrick Kane just missed on his first attempt to end it in double overtime on Brian Elliott but didn’t miss the rebound, ending a game in which the Blues were wrestling control. The Blackhawks stayed alive with a big second period that ended up being series-shifting. Marian Hossa scored a short-handed goal, Artem Anisimov banged home a rebound and then Artemi Panarin beat Elliott with 0.4 seconds left in the period.
