Report: Cowboys to pick up Frederick’s option

When the Dallas Cowboys came on the clock at the No. 18 pick of the 2013 NFL Draft, the expectation was that they were going to take one of the top defensive prospects on the board. Defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd and safety Eric Reid were popular guesses. Instead, the Cowboys sent in a card notifying the league that they’d traded down, with San Francisco coming up to grab Reid, and the Cowboys receiving picks No. 31 and 74 in exchange.
Not only did the Cowboys come out losers on the draft value chart (sent out 900 points, received 805 points), but four picks later, the Rams got a more equitable deal to move down from pick No. 22 to 30 (sent out 782.1 points, received 763.8 points).
